The goal of the Annual Portsmouth Sustainability Fair is to make our community more sustainable through increased awareness and actions. As an all-volunteer effort, we are fortunate to receive incredible support through volunteer efforts and in-kind contributions from community members, institutions, businesses and our partners, the City of Portsmouth and the Portsmouth Schools. Because of this support, we are able to limit vendor fees so that any vendor can afford to come, and non-profits can participate at no cost.
The Fair offers a variety of services to benefit the community such as electronics recycling at no charge. In previous years, through our partnership with Uni-Waste, we recycled as much as 7,800 lbs. of electronics that would have cost consumers over $2,500 to recycle. More importantly, by generating sustainability awareness and actions, we will create far-reaching and long-term monetary and quality-of-life benefits for our entire community by building a more resilient, efficient and sustainable community.
To make this the best Fair, we need your financial help as well as your participation and follow-up action. We do not charge admission because we do not want to exclude anyone from joining in. However, we would appreciate small donations of $5 to $10 or more from community members and institutions. Your donation* will not only help out this year, but will allow us to raise our standards and expectations for future Annual Portsmouth Sustainability Fairs held every Spring. We already have several new ideas for next year that will help our community increase sustainability awareness and actions.
If you are willing to make a donation, please go to the Fair website: www.portsmouthsustainabilityfair.org and click on the donations tab. Donations can be made electronically through the website. If you prefer to send a check, please make it payable to Portsmouth Listens and forward it to: Portsmouth Listens, P.O. Box 1434, Portsmouth, NH 03802.
Thank you for caring about our community.
